2010 Spring Ballot Instructions

Please note that all ballots must be cast by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on May 31st.

Debra MartinDear AAA Members,

Did you know, that on average, only about 15% of the membership votes on ballots, resolutions and candidates? Doesn’t that seem ridiculously low to you? Please consider voting if you normally do not because it does matter. You may not know all the candidates for the AAA positions, but you will likely know the candidates for the sections you belong to.

I urge you to vote – this is a place where a handful of votes do make a difference! Members running for these positions deserve your attention – they put themselves out there and it is important that we have a diverse, robust and representative set of leaders in these various positions.

So, if you have never voted, please do so now, today!

As in previous years we will be providing on-line voting for AAA and AAA Section candidates. You will find the link to the ballots link provided at the URL listed above or by pressing the Voter button at the top of this page. To login, use the username and password provided in the email sent to you on the 15th. These procedures are the same as last year and are noted described below.

  • Please note that the username is your email address on file with the AAA and the password is your AAA membership ID number. You will only be able to vote if your membership is current as of March 31st.
  • After you have logged in, you will see a list of ballots, starting with the AAA ballot, and followed by the ballots for each Section that you belong to that is holding an election at this time (the following Sections are NOT holding elections now: AFA, ALLA, EAS, SACC, SAW.)
  • Information about each candidate and each ballot initiative is available through links on the online ballots. It is possible to look at the ballots and then exit and return and vote later, and it is also possible to cast your votes on one ballot (say, the AAA ballot) and come back later to vote on other ballots (the ballots of the Sections you belong to, for instance). However, in each case, once you have cast a specific ballot, you cannot return and change any of your votes on that specific ballot.

We hope and expect that the system will work smoothly for you. Should you have any questions, however, please email Kim Baker (AAA's Section & Governance Coordinator) at elections@aaanet.org . Kim will insure that you get the assistance you need, from the appropriate AAA staff, as promptly as possible.

As we all know, the technology is no more than a means to an end: the important thing here is voting.

Sincerely,

Debra Martin
AAA Secretary
