PoLAR
is devoted to the anthropology of law and politics, most broadly conceived.
It publishes work that is distinguished by its innovative definition
of problems, ethnographic orientation or theoretical outlook.
We welcome submissions of manuscripts between 4,000 and 8,000 words
in length (including notes and references).
Abstracting
and Indexing:
PoLAR
is indexed in Anthropology Index, Communications Abstracts, Index
to Periodical Articles related to Law, International Bibliography
of the Social Sciences. PoLAR is also under consideration
for indexing by Oxford University Press's Refugee Survey Quarterly,
Sage's Criminal Justice Abstracts, Sage's Urban Studies Abstracts. PoLAR
is now available in full text on Westlaw and Hein OnLine, two of the
most important legal data bases.

for Contributors:
While manuscripts should not exceed 8,000 words in length (including
notes and references), book reviews should be from 800 -1,000 words. Prospective
authors may submit manuscripts in one of two ways. You can either
submit electronically via a Word (RTF) document to Polar@law.wisc.edu
or send four hard copies to the editorial offices of PoLAR.
Manuscripts submitted to PoLAR must not be under consideration by
another journal or have been previously published. Type authorship,
institutional affiliation, complete address, phone number, fax, and
e-mail; only the title should appear on the manuscript. Submissions
of manuscripts should also include an abstract and at least five keywords.

guide. If you prefer
to send your submission as a hard copy rather than electronically,
please send four copies to:
