Critical Reviews for Research and Teaching
Edited by Sandra Morgen
The dramatic development of anthropological research on women and on gender over the past two decades has profound implications for research and teaching in anthropology. This research has produced critiques of the ways women have been represented in anthropology and has generated a host of new questions and approaches for exploring women's experiences in their historical and cultural variety. Gender and Anthropology: Critical Reviews for Research and Teaching is the culmination of a three-year project designed to help bring the insights of this new research to the teaching of anthropology. Drawing on the work of feminist anthropologists in all the subfields, this book demonstrates the value of examining gender and women's lives in all areas of anthropological inquiry.
