Letters Responding to Human Rights Cases

While the AAA Committee for Human Rights generates extensive briefing documents on certain complex cases involving human rights abuse, more often it recommends to the AAA president that only a letter be sent protesting an instance of human rights abuse relevant to the work of anthropology. To amplify its effect, the letter is usually also circulated to other interested groups and agencies. This section of the Association's website provides a location for making available to the membership the text of such letters.
