Additional Settings
Use the Additional Settings option in Subsite Properties to further refine subsite configuration. Access this dialog by expanding Properties in the left panel of the Subsite Administration Dashboard and selecting Additional Settings.
Site administrators define options available here at the site level through Content Creation - Page Creation/Properties UI settings.
The Additional Settings dialog contains the following fields.
- Page Title Prefix - Some Web sites require consistent titles for each page. In the example above all pages display with the prefix, CommonSpot University - (note the inclusion of the dash, with spaces). Specifying a string here automatically prepends it to titles created by page authors.
- Default Confidentiality - If Confidentiality settings are enabled for your site, optionally set default security for pages within this subsite.
- Availability - Controls which resources can reference the subsite. Note that these settings affect the availability of the subsite itself, not the individual pages and documents it contains. For this subsite the only available option is Page Index - Check to make this subsite available for display in Page Index elements configured to include subsites, uncheck to exclude.
- Default Availability - Sets default visibility for new pages created for this subsite. This option determines which CommonSpot components can access subsite pages. By default, a page is available to all resources. Options are:
- Page Index - Whether pages in this subsite are available for display in Page Index Elements
- Search Results - Whether subsite pages and documents are available for display in CommonSpot search results returned through Find or Search.
- Template Variables: Optional. Use this option to specify variables defined for all pages within this subsite and evaluated in a base template, custom ColdFusion module, or Element render handlers. To define one or more template variables, enter a list of variable assignments, one per line, in the form variablename=value.
For example, if site design calls for page background color and header image to differ based on current subsite, define two template variables, one for the background color and one for the header image. Within the base template, these variables are then evaluated within code.
For each template variable assignment, CommonSpot creates a variable within the Request.SubSite.TemplatesVariables structure. which can then be accessed any time during the page request processing.
Note: To have CommonSpot use any of the defined variables within the <body> tag as attributes, prepend the attribute name with bodytag_. For example to render the entire page using a blue background, define a template variable 'bodytag_bgcolor = blue'.
- Webmaster Email: Optional. The email address used as the sender for various event-based notifications (such as approval requests). Note that email must be set up for your site. This account is typically set up with a generic name (webmaster@, or intranetserver@). No entry here disables email notifications.
