General Tab
This tab gives you fine controls for enabling or disabling HTML editing within the Rich Text Editor. You can show/hide or set default display for the HTML editor based on whether the page uses style sheets. You can also override these settings for specific groups. Use these settings to implement your site's editing policies. For example, you might restrict HTML editing for all contributors, but enable it for webmasters or designers. See Text Handling in CommonSpot for more information.
You can also control which styles are available for authors and editors.
HTML Editing
These options control the visibility of the Rich Text Editor's HTML toolbar button
, which allows contributors to directly edit HTML code.
- Default - You can separately specify settings for style sheet-enabled pages and pages without style sheet formatting. Pick from the dropdowns to set the visibility of the HTML toolbar button at the page level. Note that you can override these settings for groups,
- Always Show - The HTML option always displays, users can't hide it.
- Never Show - The HTML option never displays and users can't enable it.
- Show by default - The HTML option displays by default, but users can optionally hide it.
- Hide by default - The HTML option is hidden by default, but users can optionally display and use it.
- Groups - Use the Always Show to Groups setting to make HTML editing available to one or more groups, overriding default and page-level settings. Click the Change button to select one or more groups.
Style Options
These options determine which class names display in the Rich Text Editor when Cascading Style Sheets are enabled. There are two options for the Style Options:
- Use Registered Styles - You can define Styles at the site level using the Style Definitions section of the Site Administrator. When this Style Option is selected, CommonSpot will display the registered Styles that are configured for the "Text" component of the Any Formatted Text block Element.
- Use Style sheets from the Page - this option will display all of the available classes which are dynamically discovered from the page's registered CSS documents. The RTE has the ability to import classes dynamically.
Note: The option for Use Stylesheets from the Page currently has no override option and all registered classes will be displayed within the RTE.
