Static File Generation
Files written to the Static directory tree are created under the following events. Note that the file will either be a full HTML page or a short redirect file.
- Page Publication or Clear & Update Cache Option - Whenever a page is published or the Clear & Update Cache option is selected on the authoring server for a specific page, a static file with the same name is written in the Static directory tree as part of the publication process.
- Background Process - If the publication of content or the changing of security (either at the subsite, page, or element level) changes the page’s state from dynamic to static, or vice versa, all of the Static pages with links to the affected page will need to be regenerated. As this may potentially affect a large number of pages, CommonSpot marks affected pages as needing a rebuild of their static content. A background ColdFusion process that is configured to run on a frequent basis then regenerates the pages marked for updating.
