Suspend Authoring
Access the Suspend Authoring dialog by clicking Change in the Authoring State field of CommonSpot Server Information or Site Information center panels. This option controls whether authoring is enabled/disabled at each administrative level.
This dialog displays the following fields:
- Permit authoring indefinitely: Default. Enables author, edit, and approve operations for all current contributors.
- Stop authoring for all sites: Initiates the suspend authoring process for all current contributors. Note that this affects only the current site if you initiate this process at the site level.
Selecting Stop Authoring displays additional options:
- Prohibit authoring after: Required. Defaults to a date/time 15 minutes from the current server time. Click Clear to set the date and time to the current server time and immediately stop authoring, or click the calendar icon to set a future date/time.
- Warn authors: Optional. Displays or changes the notification period for contributors. Defaults to 15 minutes in advance of the authoring suspension time defined above or to 0 if you leave this field blank. Enter a time in minutes. Warning time must be less than the interval before suspension. PaperThin recommends a warning period of at least 5 minutes
- Message to authors: Optional. Enter an appropriate notification or leave blank.
Click Save to set new authoring state settings or Cancel to exit without changing.
CommonSpot Information updates authoring state information for the server.
Click Change to modify or to re-enable authoring settings.
During the warning period any author, edit, or approve action invokes a JavaScript alert with optional messaging appended.
