Clio's Psyche Special Issue Anthropology and Psychoanalysis: Intersections of the Intrapsychic and Social We invite you to prepare an article examining the complementary relationship between anthropology and psychoanalysis for a special issue of Clio’s Psyche. We are interested in how anthropologists engage diverse psychoanalytic theories and practices in ethnographic research and writing. Articles may include ethnographic examples, fieldwork accounts, personal reflections, methodological issues, engagements with the literature, and discussions of the role of psychoanalytic theory in your research. The collection will consist of numerous brief articles (of 1500 words) directed toward a diverse audience. Purely theoretical accounts are discouraged. Clio’s Psyche prefers that articles be personalized, without specialist terminology, in the first-person singular, and without foot/endnotes or an extensive bibliography. We seek a range of contributions on, but not limited to, the following themes: -Experiences working at the intersection of anthropology and psychoanalysis -Ethnographic engagements with psychoanalytic constructs and processes -Dreams -Transference/Countertransference -Gender -Person-centered ethnography -Methods -Biographical discussions of psychoanalytically oriented anthropologists (such as Devereux) -New directions in psychoanalytic anthropology -Ethnographic research on psychoanalysis or psychoanalytic practice -Child development, childrearing, and socialization -Political subjectivity -Anthropological contributions to psychoanalysis -Teaching psychoanalytic anthropology Please send an expression of interest, preferably in the form of a brief abstract, by July 21, 2013, to Aaron Denham at Abstracts will be promptly reviewed and suitable authors will be encouraged to submit. For those accepted, we seek articles of 1,500 words—including your brief biography—by November 11, 2013. Submissions the editors deem suitable are anonymously refereed. Please forward this Call for Papers to any colleagues (and mailing lists) who may be interested.
