Medieval Bioarchaeology in Bez?awki, Poland
|Sponsor: Humboldt State University|
Positions are still available for this unique opportunity to work side-by-side with Polish archaeologists and Humboldt State University instructors while excavating, analyzing and cataloging human remains in Poland. Our field site is in Bez?awki, a village site in north eastern Poland. Burials at the site date to around the 13th Century AD. This site was the territory of Old Prussians, a pagan bellicose peoples who had resisted conversion into Christianity for many centuries to be finally conquered by the Teutonic Knight Order. As such, you may see some very interesting burial rites.
