Where does the meeting take place?
Annual Meeting sessions, panels, and special events will take place primarily at the Palais des Congres de Montreal (Montreal Convention Center). Special events and selected receptions will also be located at the Hyatt Regency Montreal, Westin Montreal and Intercontinental Montreal hotels.

Where should I stay?
The American Anthropological Association has negotiated discounted hotel rates with nine different hotel properties all within quick walking distance to the Convention Center. You can make your reservations online here: https://resweb.passkey.com/Resweb.do?mode=welcome_ei_new&eventID=3417476. Discounted Rates are only available until October 26 (unless we sell out in advance) so make your reservations soon!

Do I need to register in advance?
All attendees of the 110th Annual Meeting must be registered. Discounted advance registration rates are available until September 30, 2011. After September 30th attendees will have to register on-site in Montreal with increased rates. Advance Registration can be found online here.

Palais des Congres de Montreal by Marc CramerWhere is registration located?
Registration will be located in Room 517D on the fifth floor of the Montreal Convention Center. Come to room 517D during registration hours and pick-up your name badge, conference tote and program. You are required to wear your name badge for entry to all AAA Annual Meeting activities.

Is it possible to receive a refund of registration fees?
AAA policy does not allow for refunds of registration fees. There are two exceptions to this policy:

  1. Presenters who submitted a proposal and the proposal was not accepted for appearance on the Program. If your proposal was not accepted, please email AAA staff (aaameetings@aaanet.org) by September 16 to request a refund.
  2. If you have a medical condition that no longer permits you to travel to the Annual Meeting. Please send a request to AAA meetings staff, accompanied by a doctor's note, to aaameetings@aaanet.org.

Is there a dress code?
The AAA Annual Meeting is a professional academic conference. Business casual attire is strongly recommended, particularly for those presenting research during the meeting.

Palais des Congres de Montreal, Marc CramerAre meals included in my registration fee?
No, there are no formal meals included in the Annual Meeting program. The Welcome Reception on Thursday, November 17 will feature light appetizers and a cash bar. Several AAA Sections, Affiliates and Universities typically host receptions in the evening that may or may not be open to attendees. Check your program for more information on these evening activities.

Is wi-fi available in the Convention Center?
Yes! Thanks to our generous sponsors, Wiley Blackwell, wireless internet will be available in public areas of the Convention Center for attendees use. Bring your laptops or your smart phones to keep connected!

Is the Exhibition open to all attendees?
Yes! The Exhibition Hall is a collection of top publishers, film producers, resources, and organizations who serve the discipline. Stop by to chat with representatives from these companies and see what products they have available. The exhibit hall is located in the Montreal Convention Center Room 517AB.
