Author: AGAPI FILINI
Date/Time: Thu., 1:45 PM
Co-Author(s): AGAPI FILINI
Abstract: The archaeological site of Teotihuacan in the Basin of Mexico was the greatest urban centre in Mesoamerica during the Classic period. Teotihuacan-style artefacts have been recorded at sites of diverse societal complexity throughout Mesoamerica. Ideological factors seem to have been particularly important for the structuration of the Teotihuacan exchange network. This paper addresses the information transmission processes that took place between Teotihuacan and culturally distinct areas which account for the differential manifestation of symbolic ideas in areas afar. The application of GIS is methodologically fundamental since it allows for the systematization and analysis of an enormous corpus of complex data which is necessary for the understanding of Teotihuacan´s external affairs and the political and social organization of the great City.
