| Abstract: |
Social Network Analysis provides a means of understanding how people interact along familial, trade and societal lines. By combining research in the World Values Survey with Social Network Analyses in the Village Ecodynamics Project (Kohler et al. 2007), I analyze the structure of ties among agents in our current implementation, and also how we will use networks to model transmission processes in future version of the simulation platform. I emphasize how anthropology informs studies of the 13th-century depopulation of the northern Southwest; how alliance formation and dissolution may help us to understand periods of peace and warfare; and how network analysis may help us understand the eventual depopulation of the Mesa Verde region. |
