Information for Members of the Press
What Is Anthropology? At its core, anthropology is the study all aspects of human existence, from how we evolved into Homo sapiens to how we live together as a single species today. The four fields of anthropology are social/cultural anthropology, physical/biological anthropology, archaeology and linguistic anthropology. To get a sample of the wide variety of what anthropologists do, visit the websites of the 34 separate sections of the association. Want more information? Hop over to our on-line brochure. You might also want to take a look at a brief history of the AAA. What Can Anthropology Do for You?Anthropology can give you a different take on a situation or a unique example for your audience. Need help with the course of human evolution? How about suggestions for improving intercultural communication? Do you have to explain to your viewers why diseases spread differently around the world? Anthropologists study all that and more. The AAA Press Office is here to make your job a little easier, whether you are looking for a story idea or a source for an ongoing story. Anthropologists have their noses into just about every topic under the sun, whether it's the rise of the Mafia in Russia or the fall of Homo erectus in Africa. You can also keep surfing the Internet, which is is filled with anthropological resources. Check out some sites we especially like, listed below. If you are looking for a specific anthropologist, call us or try the Worldwide E-mail Directory of Anthropologists. General InformationAnthropomorphemics:
