In May, 2004, the AOC reviewed the Resource Development Committee (RDC), and Awards Committee and the Committee on the Status of Women in Anthropology (COSWA).

The committee heard form the Executive Director (Bill Davis) the AAA will continue with efforts regarding the Annual Giving Program. Davis also reported that he had been consulting with other organizations regarding their resource development efforts as well as with a variety of professionals in the field. Davis made specific suggestions for the AOC to consider when reviewing the charge of the RDC. Specifically, he suggested that the requirement that an RDC member be a must be a member of the AAA be removed to allow for resource development professionals to serve on the committee and assist the AAA with its efforts. Motion was made to recommend to the AAA Executive Board the adoption of the amended Resource Development Committee charge was approved unanimously.

The committee accepted the Awards Committee report and recommend changes to the committee's charge. The committee also approved the following recommendations of the Awards Committee:

The Boas Award should provide a monetary award or special trophy/memento to accompany the certificate. The Schneider Award should be evaluated to determine the financial resources. Once that is determined, this should be reactivate as a functioning award or if it cannot become active, it should be removed from the Awards Committee charge. The Awards Committee charge should be modified to state that the appointment of the new Chair is made the year prior to the departure of the sitting chair.

Committee on the Status of Women in Anthropology (COSWA) Review was also approved.

The AOC recommend to the AAA Executive Board to approve of the Interest Group for the Anthropology of Public Policy application and recommended the approval of the Evolutionary Anthropology Society application for Section status.

In November, the committee heard an extensive discussion of the potential for the Practicing Advisory group and discussed ways in which individuals and institutions (companies) could be serviced as members of AAA.
