SAR SERIES, CONTEMPORARY ANTHROPOLOGY OF RELIGION

Since its creation, the Society for the Anthropology of Religion has not had had a journal through which colleagues can share and develop their ideas.  But the Society does have a book series, Contemporary Anthropology of Religion, which is published in collaboration with Palgrave-Macmillan Press.  Books in the series explore a variety of issues relating to current theoretical or comparative issues in the study of religion. These include the relation between religion and the body, social memory, gender, ethnoreligious violence, globalization, modernity, and multiculturalism, among others.

The series has just published its eighth book, and the Society and the series Editor are keen to publish additional works in the anthropology of religion.  Palgrave, which also distributes Zed Books, offers an excellent, world-wide network of distribution for its books.  It also enjoys a comparatively quick publication schedule, typically eight to ten months after the press's receipt of the finished manuscript.

The Society is particularly interested in publishing books that combine sophisticated theoretical reflection in the anthropology of religion with quality ethnographic research.  However the Society also welcomes single-authored, book-length essays that address central topics or theoretical issues in the anthropology of religion from a comparative or interdisciplinary perspective.

Authors interested in learning more about Palgrave and the SAR series are encouraged to contact the Series Editor,
