Welcome to the Society for Psychological Anthropology home page.
The Society for Psychological Anthropology (SPA) of the American
Anthropological Association was founded in 1977. SPA is a broad,
multidisciplinary organization of individuals interested in
cultural, psychological, and social interrelations at all levels.
The Society for Psychological Anthropology sponsors biennial meetings; our most recent 2009 SPA Biennial Meetings were held on March 27-29, 2009 in Asilomar, CA.
Lemelson Student Fellows Program
Lemelson/SPA Conference Fund
Funding for the Lemelson/SPA fellowship was donated by Robert Lemelson, a
former board member of the SPA.
The Lemelson Student Fellows Program provides funds for initial field
research for students normally in their first or second year of graduate
school. The Lemelson/SPA Conference Fund provides funds for conferences at
SPA members' host institutions on significant topics in the field of
psychological anthropology.

SPA section membership is open to any current member of the American Anthropological Association. Dues are $45 and $20 for students. SPA members receive the quarterly journal Ethos and are eligible to cast votes in SPA decisions. Membership forms are available at the American Anthropological Association.
An email distribution list is maintained by the Society for Psychological Anthropology. The list is a service for SPA members and is open to anyone who wishes to subscribe.
