Details on Types of Submissions

Section Invited Sessions – Due March 15

Invited Sessions are arranged by a section to present cutting-edge research and/or critical issues of interest to the entire section. A&E can have 2 Invited Sessions for the annual meeting (or more if we co-sponsor with other sections). Please communicate directly with the Program Chair to discuss your Invited Session proposal in advance of your online submission.

Invited Session Panel Submissions – Due March 15, 2012 (AAA online portal)

Organizers must submit: session abstract (< 500 words), keywords, length of session, anticipated attendance, presenter names and roles. Organizers’ membership must be current unless eligible for a membership exemption (anthropologists living outside of the US/Canada or non-anthropologists) and have registered for the 2012 Annual Meeting. Presenters must submit their own individual abstracts (< 250 words), paper title and keywords. Organizers are NOT able to upload individual abstracts on behalf of presenters on the panel. Presenters must be current members unless eligible for a membership exemption (anthropologists living outside of the US/Canada or non-anthropologists) and have paid registration for the 2012 Annual Meeting in order to upload abstract information.

Section Invited Roundtable Submissions – Due March 15

Roundtables could focus on issues like Research and Teaching; or the Author Meets Reader format; or they could provide the opportunity for substantive time discussions of theoretical issues with a few presenters making brief comments before audience participation. The presenter role of the participants in a roundtable counts as their major presentation (i.e., the same as a paper). Sections are not limited in how many roundtable session they may invite. Organizers are responsible for submitting the session abstract (of no more than 500 words), keywords, length of session, anticipated attendance, and presenter names. Organizers’ membership must be current and must be registered for the 2012 Annual Meeting.Roundtable presenters do NOT submit individual abstracts. Roundtable presenters, chairs and discussants must have a current membership or membership exemption (available only to anthropologists living outside the US/Canada or non-anthropologists) and must pay registration for the 2012 Annual Meeting by the final deadline of April 15, 2012 in order to appear on the program.

Invited Submissions – Due March 15

Organizers are responsible for submitting the session abstract (< 500 words), keywords, length of session, anticipated attendance, presenter names and roles. Organizers’ membership must be current and have registered for the 2012 Annual Meeting. Presenters, Discussants (if applicable) and Chairs (if applicable) must be registered by the April 15, 2012 final deadline in order to appear on the 2012 Annual Meeting Program.

Volunteered Panel & Poster Session Submissions – Due April 15

Submissions consist of two sets of information. Organizers must submit: session abstract (< 500 words), keywords, length of session, anticipated attendance, presenter names and roles. Organizers’ membership must be current and have registered for the 2012 Annual Meeting. Presenters must submit: their own individual abstracts (< 250 words), paper title and keywords. Organizers are NOT able to upload individual abstracts on behalf of presenters on the panel. Presenters must be current members unless eligible for a membership exemption (anthropologists living outside of the US/Canada or non-anthropologists) and have paid registration for the 2012 Annual Meeting in order to upload abstract information. Discussants and Chairs must be registered by the April 15, 2012 final deadline in order to appear on the 2012 Annual Meeting Program.

Volunteered Roundtable Submissions – Due April 15

Organizers are responsible for submitting the session abstract (< 500 words), keywords, length of session, anticipated attendance, and presenter names. Organizers’ membership must be current and must be registered for the 2012 Annual Meeting. N.B.: Roundtable presenters do NOT submit individual abstracts. Roundtable presenters, chairs and discussants must have a current membership or membership exemption (available only to anthropologists living outside the US/Canada or non-anthropologists) and must pay registration for the 2012 Annual Meeting by the final deadline of April 15, 2012 in order to appear on the program.

Individual Paper or Poster Submissions – Due April 15

Papers have a better chance of acceptance if they are part of an organized session. Individual papers will be reviewed and placed into sessions as possible. Presenters are responsible for uploading their individual paper or poster submission online. The submission must include the presentation title, abstract (of no more than 250 words), keywords, and co-authors (if applicable). Presenters must be current members unless eligible for a membership exemption (anthropologists living outside of the US/Canada or non-anthropologists) and have paid registration for the 2012 Annual Meeting by 5:00pm EDT, Sunday, April 15, 2012.
