The Department of Anthropology at Macquarie University offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in a broad range of areas facilitating critical engagement with questions of culture, knowledge and social transformation as they are experienced in a variety of sites around the globe.Â
The Role
We are seeking to appoint three anthropologists to teaching and research positions in our Department where exciting new synergies are developing after a period of growth and curriculum development. The appointees will potentially teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including into our Masters degrees in Applied Anthropology, and in Development Studies and Cultural Change.Â
1. We specifically welcome applications from candidates with an academic specialisation in anthropological dimensions of Indigenous lives in Australia for one of the available positions.
2. The Department is open to diverse areas of specialisation for the other two positions. Areas of specialisation could include any of the following fields: Economic Anthropology; Ethnicity, Migration and Transnationalism; Anthropology of the Environment; Science and Technology; Media and Video Production; Human-Animal Relations; Food; Anthropology of China or India; Music, Art and/or Material Culture Design; Anthropology of Health and Illness, Anthropology of Religion.Â
Selection Criteria
To be considered, applicants must address the selection criteria below and then upload the response as a separate document during the online application process.
• PhD in Anthropology or related discipline;Â
• Demonstrated academic knowledge in an area of specialisation (mentioned above) and how they would contribute to the Department.
• Demonstrated research record relative to opportunity as evidenced by peer reviewed publications;
• Demonstrated experience of and commitment to innovative teaching, including an ability to teach introductory courses.Â
• Demonstrated capacity for teamwork and a collegial attitude
Salary Package: Lecturer (Level  salary AUD$88,741-$104,996 p.a. plus 17% employer’s superannuation and annual leave loading.
