The University of Alabama at Birmingham seeks applications for a Chair of the Department of Anthropology beginning August 2014. Area and topical interests are open but should complement those found in the department. Applicants must have a PhD, a substantial publication record, a record of obtaining external support, and an ongoing research agenda. The successful candidate will have administrative experience and vision to lead a department that emphasizes quality undergraduate and graduate instruction and research excellence.

Review of applications is ongoing but applications received by December 15 will be assured of consideration.
