Information Especially For Students
#1. CAE Student listserv
The CAE Student listserv is designed to be a place for
students to exchange information, ask questions and discuss issues
relevant to any stage of graduate school. We hope that this forum
will provide a stimulating and respectful avenue for networking and
a wide-ranging exchange of ideas. Please feel free to contribute
theoretical and/or methodological discussions, tips for surviving
graduate school, fieldwork stories, humor and anything else you may
want to share. We look forward to the opportunity to create
community among graduate students interested in anthropology and
education.
Student members of CAE who want to join the listserv should send an email request to the list manager, Anita Chikkatur. The listserv address is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/caestudentlist
If you have questions, please feel free to contact Anita Chikkatur, Student Representative to the CAE Board of Directors.
#2. CAE Student Forum
Every year CAE sponsors a Student Forum at the AAA annual meeting. Students make up over one third of the CAE membership and represent the future of the organization. For this reason, it is important that students begin to craft for themselves a more coherent voice in CAE as well as in AAA as a whole. This Forum is designed as a roundtable working session where students will work in groups to respond to current and ongoing issues within CAE such as our mission, diversity, the organization of our section, building relations with other sections, and recruitment and retention of students and CAE members in general.
The CAE Student Forum is supported by the Council on Anthropology and Education. The Forum provides opportunities for students to gain support through networking and mentorship opportunities, share resources and experiences with other students, and promote student voice in CAE and AAA as a whole.
