NOTE: The following sites are thought to be useful to students and scholars researching the anthropology of religion. Such study may move in a wide variety of directions, and so a broad definition of what constitutes an anthropology of religion site has been observed. Sites are included here on the premise that they are informative for anthropologists, whether they be otherwise thoroughly objective or seek to promote a distinct point of view. Diversity of subject matter has also been sought. Users of these sites are expected to consider for themselves the value of the information found therein. Please contact the site manager if you have additional sites to recommend or specific commentary on listed sites. Thank you to everyone who has contributed.

Islam and Islamic Studies, including Muslims, Islam and the Iraq War: "This site from Dr. Alan Godlas, professor of religion at the University of Georgia, gives scholarly resources on Islam and related subjects. Perhaps not surprisingly, the page opens with a short list of pieces related to terrorism, including Yusuf Islam's (nee Cat Stevens) 'Terrorism has nothing to do with Islam' and statements from scholars of Islam speaking out against terrorism. The main body of the site, however, is given over to twelve sections of annotated links, which span maps, art, women's rights, the Qur'an, history, and much more. Godlas aims to provide 'a non-polemical view of Islam (including Sunni Islam, Shi'ism, and Sufism) and to a lesser extent of Judaism and Christianity.'" The Vanishing Protestant Majority [pdf]. (Quoted From The Scout Report, copyright Internet Scout Project 1994-2001): "The Protestant ethic, long a subject of great interest to numerous generations of scholars (including the esteemed sociologist Max Weber), is one of the most debated subjects within the field of sociology. This recent report authored by two sociologists at the University of Chicago's National Opinion Research Center brings to light the fact that for the first time in the history of the United States, members of the Protestant faith will no longer constitute the majority of the population within the foreseeable future. The 23-page report, authored by Tom W. Smith and Seokho Kim, notes that the percentage of Protestants in the national population shrank from 63 percent in 1993 to 52 percent in 2002. Another interesting finding of the report notes that from 1993 to 2002 the number of people who said they had no religion rose from 9 percent to nearly 14 percent." - http://www-news.uchicago.edu/releases/04/040720.protestant.pdf
