Graduate students in the field of psychological anthropology are eligible to apply for research training awards: The Lemelson/SPA Fellows. These awards can be used for field research funding to encourage initial fieldwork, exploratory research for planning dissertation research, methods training to prepare for dissertation research, and pilot studies to prepare for more extensive research applications. The research should further the intellectual goals of the field of psychological anthropology.

Six fellowships will be awarded as part of the 2014-2015 funding cycle with awards ranging between $4,500 and $6,000 depending upon need. Funds may be used for travel and fieldwork expenses and methods training, but may not be used for graduate tuition or fees, consultant fees or equipment purchases.

Applicants need not be graduate students in departments of Anthropology, but must be SPA members at the time of application. Fellowships are open to all students without regard to citizenship or residence. Full descriptions of the fellowship can be found with the application instructions.
